Jing:

Jing is a software that lets you capture images or record your computer screen. It can record you speaking while demonstrating and will let you save the film on your computer or in the cloud. This wiki will show you how to use Jing as well as tips and tools to help save time and effort.


Uses:
Jing is useful for making videos 5 minutes or less, taking pictures of your laptop home screen, it then lets you either save the pictures or send them to other people. The main idea of Jing is to save time and effort to let you succeed.


How to Download:
If you would like to download Jing, you must go to https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html,you can then click on the free download button in the mid-right part of the screen. You will then choose to download the application for either Macintosh or PC. Once the file is downloaded you can open the file and let the computer know that the app is trusted. This should let you open the app unless you have restricted access due to an administrator or anti-viral software.

How to Take Pictures With Jing:






When Jing is opened, a sun should appear peeking out of the top right corner. To use the program, you must scroll over on the sun in the corner. When you scroll over the sun 3 options will appear: capture, history, and settings.



To take a screenshot, you must click on the capture button ( the one that looks like a star). Once you click on this button crosshairs will appear on the screen. At this time you get to choose what part of the screen you want to capture. To choose the area you want to take a picture click and drag your mouse until the appropriate area is covered and release the mouse. This changes jing and a options menu appears beneath the covered area. The options are Capture an Image, Capture a video, redo selection and cancel. Click Capture an Image, and a new screen will pop up allowing you to highlight, draw, and even type on the image. Once you are done, you can then choose to copy the image, upload it to screencast.com, save it to your computer, or cancel.

Screencast with Jing:



To screencast with Jing, you must click on the capture button ( the one that looks like a star). Once you click on this button crosshairs will appear on the screen. At this time you get to choose what part of the screen you want to capture for the video. To choose the area you want to take a picture click and drag your mouse until the appropriate area is covered and release the mouse. This changes jing and a options menu appears beneath the covered area. The options are Capture an Image, Capture a video, redo selection and cancel. Click Capture a video, and a new screen will pop up with a countdown, letting you know when the recording starts. You can choose to have Audio or click no Audio in the options bar. Be aware that Jing can only record up to 5 minutes.Once you are done recording, you can then choose to copy the image, upload it to screencast.com, save it to your computer, or cancel.
